Hope House
Hello all! We are almost at the end of February already. Yesterday it was 40 degrees and sunny, and this morning it was snowing again. I am really sick of winter. GB is not using salt at the moment so I have almost slipped and broken a bone quite a few times over the last month. On a happier note, Lex and I are very involved in community service, nonprofits, and charities. We thought we could talk about something we are passionate about and educate you on some amazing groups in this sometimes gloomy world. This week we wanted to introduce you to some of our favorites!
One of my favorite nonprofits is Hope House. Hope House is a resource for people experiencing domestic and sexual abuse. They provide housing, counseling, legal assistance, community education, and a 24/7 helpline. They also provide internship opportunities and you can also volunteer.
This winter, my family decided to collect donations for Hope House's wish list. They will take donations all year and there is a variety of things they accept. If you ever have questions on if they will take something, just give them a call! I made a post on FB asking for help collecting donations. I really wanted to give back to my community and all the work they do for people who have been through the same things I have. We collected over 100 items and donated $25.00 as well. This next winter I want to donate 200 items. I have decided to make this a tradition I do for the rest of my life. Every little bit helps, and I love to help.
I hope to volunteer at some point in my life as well. To keep great things going, you have to be willing to help out. I am going to put the link to Hope House of South Central Wisconsin on the Hall of Fame tab and all of you can take a minute to check it out when you have some free time!
Hope House provides a huge list of different resources to check out if you need help and don't have a Hope House in your area. Thankfully, there is one only 30 minutes away from where I live. I have been there, and they treat everyone like family. It is such an amazing environment.
Hope House also goes to schools to share their program and hopefully inspire kids to either come forward with their stories, volunteer or help others they know with resources they didn't have before. I remember when they visited my high school. I was so touched and really appreciated them taking time out of their day to educate us and let us know people need help all around, even in our small town.
P.S. I had pictures to share as well, but my internet is not allowing me to add them. I apologize. If I can add some at another time, I will and will let you know. If you have any questions before then, hit me up in the comments!
Thank you for coming to another blog chat, and I will see you next time! Mad out...
