Mad's Poetry

 Hello again! I hope you aren't getting sick of us because Lex and I just met and planned the next two months and we have a lot of great content coming your way! Speaking of great content, Lex had the brilliant idea to do a poetry blog post. We both enjoy writing and reading poetry and we thought we would share some of our work with you all.
I hated poetry until my junior year of high school. I took a creative writing class and my teacher introduced me to many different types of poetry and embraced my passion. It turned out that I am not terrible at writing poetry. I continue to write and I hope to publish a poetry book or two one day.
Without further ado...here are some pieces of work from the good ole' Maddie Cook:

The Practice of Hope
All practice is hard.
But, the practice
of hope is almost
unbearable.

All practice is time-consuming.
But, the practice of hope
is almost
life long.

All practice is dangerous.
But, the practice of
hope is the most
unpredictable.

All practice is worth it.
But the practice of hope
is definitely the most
fulfilling.

The Moon Lies
How does one write
of happiness without
speaking of the night?

For the stars shine throughout
the darkness of the skies
turning the whole world about.

Though the moon is in disguise
for it hides in fear of being disliked.
How sad that the moon keeps telling lies.

But the moon wasn't right.
It's better to be quiet and have sight.

What A Game
Love is nothing but a game;
With no rulebook at hand.
How or what shall I gain;
from this misleading brand?
Love is nothing but a plague;
Infecting me day by day.
The word itself makes me gag.
Hatred is the only thing that keeps me at bay.
Love is nothing but a waste of time;
Covered with bruises around the edge.
With hundreds of people committing crimes;
Sometimes it makes me want to jump the ledge.

But how far will I go?
Oh, so, so, so far down below.

These are just a few of the poems I've written. I tried to keep the more graphic ones out, family-friendly blog and all. I hope you liked them and if you want to see some more, just ask. If you have a piece of poetry that you have written or read and enjoyed, share it with us in the comments!

Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who’s the Fairest of them all?

Skin so fair and bright
This dark haired beauty is quite a site

Her smile is genuine and warm
But her frown can bring quite the storm

Rocking glasses most every day
People may see her and say..….is that Jessica Day?

Known throughout the the land faaaarrrr and wide
A Warrior who’s always by your side.

One who is a fighter for truth and justice
Loyal and strong known for her toughness

Look deep into her eyes, the windows to her soul
So many parts that make her whole.

Her past cannot define her
The present cannot hold her

The future cannot wait for her
Her destiny awaits her

This Girl is on Fire
Now stand back……..and watch her build an Empire.

Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who’s the Fairest of them all?

Why, it’s Madelyn Christine of course.
This is a beautiful poem! I wonder who wrote this? Thank you for sharing and allowing us to enjoy your work.
