Meet Dalton!

Mads and I happen to have quite a few things in common - as you will quickly discover - and one of those things happens to be that we are both the oldest sibling of two.  Before I introduce you to my not-so-little little brother, lemme just take you back to the coffee shop where we were planning our content…

As Mads was sipping on her hot chocolate and I was sipping on my iced dirty chai latte (my fave), we not only chose to have monthly “themes” (ie. January = goals, February = take a guess) but to alternate between personal posts and passionate posts.  Personal as in y’all get to learn more about us and passionate as in y’all get to see what we’re healthily obsessed with.  I mean, you had to have seen that last bit coming since we claim to be “two girls madly passionate about various facets of life.”  We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we are super pumped about this blog and what’s to come and I can’t believe we already cruised through one month of content already.  Bring on February 2021!

I’m super excited that my first post of the new month gets to be about my automatic best friend (let’s face it - he didn’t really have a choice) - my brother, Dalton.  He’s two years younger than me, but people have asked more than once if he’s the oldest or if we’re twins.  In high school, we practically did everything together - no joke; we were both in marching band, dance, jazz band, orchestra, pep band, and I swam on the high school girls team while he managed the team - which was not what I wanted at the time, but looking back I think it’s pretty neat.

I get the credit for teaching him how to read and he throws that in Mom’s face anytime he gets the chance.

Any sibling-type of meme you find on the internet we can probably say we relate to.  This one, in particular, is our favorite… And, yes, people have assumed we are a couple out in public on more than one occasion (#awkward).  We were shopping together once and he admitted that we need shirts that say, “He’s my brother” and “She’s my sister” just so we nip that assumption in the bud.

We share a lot of common interests and have a few similar personality traits (our sarcasm and humor), but where he’s definitely more of a people person than me.  He also speaks his mind way more than I do (and completely unfiltered I might add).

He’s currently in his third year at college and is going for engineering.  His whole title with what he specializes in is heckin’ long and I can’t ever remember it.  He was an RA like I was and plays rugby.  Know what his position is?  Hooker.  It’s legit.

He really got into videography and photography over quarantine and his content is super dope.  Follow his insta @d.j.b._productions.

Physical fitness is something he’s passionate about and once I got back into the gym this past month, I asked him to write up workouts for me.  I think I’ve messaged him, “Screw you,” more than once after completing them.  He challenges me in the best ways and is always supportive and encouraging.

He wears his heart on his sleeve and is extremely reliable.  The day after a breakup, I was laying in bed completely defeated and unmotivated, and he came into my room with a pint of ice cream and spoon in hand.  This past year, he grew his hair out to cut and donate to charity.  When the salons were closed during the pandemic lockdown, he was disappointed that churches were too because he had wanted to walk into service on Easter and announce his presence as if he were Jesus (because he had that vibe going for him).

He never fails to make me laugh… even if it’s his fiftieth “that’s what she said” joke of the day.

He’s determined, hard-working, and lives for adventure.

Uh, did I miss anything?  Sometimes, there are literally no words to describe him, but I think that about sums it up!  (If he reads this, I’m sure he’ll say I missed something).  Overall, he’s a super cool dude (hopefully that doesn’t cause his head to inflate like when he was crowned homecoming king) and I’m very fortunate to be able to call him my brother and best friend!
